DESCRIPTION

A Seattle landmark with a touching story of our Seattle history. Originally built by the family for which Belltown was named after, the Austin A. Bell building was originally a hotel constructed in 1889. Although Austin Bell died before he was able to build the hotel, his wife built it afterward using bricks she barged from San Francisco. The building was almost destroyed by a fire in 1981 except for the stone facade that still stood. Developers Wayne Knowles and Bob Baldwin then bought the building and neighboring parking structure from Samis Land Company. Working in association with Cassimar US, Murray Franklyn and Snell Partnership, the award-winning renovated building is now a loft-style community with pieces of it’s original woodwork in the lobby. The 5-story historic condominiums located in the center of Belltown also includes a rooftop terrace, Starbucks outlet and additional retail space.

In addition to a stylish marble entry lobby, in-suite features and design by Marcia Johnson include oversized windows, private decks (most units), European shaker style cabinets, glass breakfast bar with halogen accent lighting, Frigidaire Gallery Pro series stainless steel appliances, gas stove, soaker bathtubs, Kohler plumbing and multi-room sound. Presales originally priced between $155,000 and $665,000 for 1-Bedrooms, 1-Bedrooms plus home office/den, and 2-Bedrooms. Build-to-suite penthouses were priced separately from $840,000 to $1,089,000 which also included 2 parking spaces.
