Seattle Streetcar Makes It’s First Run
You may see the new streetcar making it’s rounds today downtown. The new orange machine crossed Denny Way on my way to the office this morning. If you haven’t already heard, the streetcar has been added to city transportation in efforts to keep up with the increase in new Seattleites coming for Biotech and other jobs. This is all due to the Mayor’s South Lake Union Action Agenda. The 1.3 mile route connects South Lake Union, the new waterfront park, the Denny Triangle and the Downtown Retail Core/Westlake making 11 stops every 2 to 3 blocks.

My husband and I rode the trolley to do some of our Christmas shopping at Westlake Mall. We heard it was free until Jan. 1 and traffic was so horrific downtown we thought we’d give it a run. We had no problem finding parking at the new South Lake Union park and everyone on the trolley looked so jolly to be there. It was pretty fun and very convenient.
I also rode the trolly recently and thought the same thing… everyone looked so JOLLY. There were lots of parents with their kids, some of which were waving out the window at people walking on the sidewalks a few feet away (cute!). I think in the end it will be a good investment for the city and make things alot more convenient for people looking to spend time downtown but don’t want to hassle with the parking.
